A good surprise and a not-so-good surprise!
When someone tells you that they have good news and bad news and they ask you which one you want to hear first, what do you say?
I usually go for the bad news first.
So for the not-so-good surprise...
I have Covid.
I thought I had allergies. Then I thought I had a cold. Then I took an at-home test earlier this week and I saw two pink lines.
Well, darn.
And even though being sick is never fun...
Do you ever feel like sometimes it takes getting sick as a [super rare and almost always poorly timed] permission slip to FINALLY slow down, rest more, and take good care of yourself?
Or to binge watch trashy reality shows like "The Ultimatum"? π₯Έ [yowsers.]
Do you also find that it can be a little bit easier to ask for help when you're sick?
[Oh I so wish asking for help was easy as pie π₯§ ALL the time, but it's not.]
Yesterday, I asked a friend to check-in with me for the next five mornings to ask me how I'm feeling.
A few years ago, I would've been waaaaayyyyy too bashful to request something like that, but as I get stronger and stronger about claiming what I need, and especially when I'm in the surrender of feeling sick, I ask.
And if the idea of identifying and asking for what you need presses an edge for you, let's talk about it - it's definitely a recurring theme for all of the deeply caring high-achievers I know...
Now for the good surprise!
A few weeks ago, on the exact one-year anniversary of the Outgrow the Grind podcast, thanks to many of you, the podcast reached 5,000 downloads!!
I was so excited about reaching this milestone in an easy, organic, non-grindy way, I made a video about it!
I am deeply grateful to all of you who have been loyal listeners of the podcast and for your texts + emails + FB messages about the episodes that speak to your heart or inspire you to make a change.
π I love when you share what you love.
And now, Outgrow the Grind is already well into Season Five and has reached almost 6,000 downloads, can you even believe it!? Woo! π
Which episode might support you now?
How often do you choose pure enjoyment over [your own or someone else's] expectations? If your answer to this question was "π¬" like mine, you're gonna love this episode with Communications Coach Madeline Schwarz.
In the shortie episode "Reminder for Replenishment", I walk you through how to make a list of what replenishes you and I share my own list after an unexpected migraine.
Have you ever had the experience where your values don't jive with the practices of the organization that you're working for? And maybe you've forgotten how much value YOUR unique values actually bring? This week's episode features educator, artist, and advisor Sheetal Prajapati.
I'm sending you lots of love and good vibes from Athens, Georgia.
And, in the words of Lalah Delia, "Keep taking time for yourself until you're you again." That's what I'll be doing!
Warmly,
Stacy
