Sending winter solstice wishes your way

Tonight is the winter solstice - the longest night of the year and the first official day of Winter. ❄️

You may already know that the word “solstice” comes from the Latin words sol (Sun) and sistere (to stand still).

It's a perfect time for cozying up, resting, and hibernating (which, I know, might feel like the polar opposite of what you seem to have time for during the busy holiday season).

The winter solstice is a time to reconnect with yourself, tune into your internal wisdom, and return to your way.

I love what Toko-pa Turner, the author of Belonging: Remembering Ourselves Home, writes about the winter solstice and I wanted to share it with you:

If Solstice were a question, it might ask, “From what have I strayed too far?”

In the haste of activity and progress, what essential values have I left behind?

What did an earlier version of me know better than I?

As we transition from the active, outward life to an inner opening, we may discover a disconnect between our aims in the world and the way our soul longs to sing.

We can ask, “Does my intent line up with my actions, and capacity for those actions?”
— Toko-Pa Turner

Do any of these questions spark something in you?

I invite you to take a moment to pause to consider them. Maybe by candlelight...

I'm wishing you a winter and holiday season full of nourishing warmth and rest.

With love and gratitude,

Stacy
